OpenGL Version for Intel GMA 4500 MHD: Features and Specifications of the Graphics Media Accelerator

Hello,I have an old laptop running a celeron su2400 and graphics GMA 4500 MHD. Is has been running archlinux fine for years, but recently i decided to wipe some partitions and reinstall. With the new installation I detected a problem while running a program: Prusa-Slicer. The program, for those who don't know it, is a software that can convert a 3d model into a code that can be understood by a 3d printer. My problem is that when a load a 3D model, the software does not show the object. I have tried with the version in the repos or a freshly compiled one but the problem persists.

The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (sometimes also called GMA X4500 HD or other combinations) is a DirectX 10 capable onboard graphics adapter in the GM45, GE45 and GS45 chipset of the Centrino 2 platform (Montevina). The chip has no dedicated graphics memory, but takes dynamically an amount from the main memory (up to 384 MB). The graphics card is also called Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family in the Intel drivers.

opengl version for intel gma 4500 mhd

Similar question already exists on this forum but I can't understand: is there really no way to emulate OpenGL on CPU? To be honest, I don't understant completely how OpenGL works. I have an integrated card, Intel GMA 4500M, it supports OpenGL 2.1 only, but I can't buy new laptop now. I need to use Element 3D plug-in for After Effects but it supports OpenGL 3.3. Why I can't emulate OpenGL functions on CPU only?

There's MesaGL which has a software rasterizer backend. There are Windows builds of MesaGL which contain only said software rasterizer. You can place copies of MesaGL's opengl32.dll in the directories/folders of the programs you want to use that.

thanks for the quick response. Do you mean that maybe third party driver will work with my GMA 4500. I expect it will run slow or without much detailed graphics. but this is what i would like to test.

Edit: The Intel 4 Series Express (Mobile) Chipset has the Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics hardware onboard. This is the same as the desktop GMA X4500 hardware, which is an OpenGL 2.0 card: -specs/gma-x4500.c3140 2ff7e9595c
